Evaluation At the start of this project, I had the intention to play music in front of 3 different crowds: a younger, teenage crowd, an adult crowd and an elderly crowd. I wanted to see how each of them react to a gig, how they may connect to the music being played and the style of music they want to hear. I had the intention to create 3 different original songs to play in each gig that tailor towards the audience but I unfortunately couldn't get the time to do so. However, I feel I didn't really need to play any original songs with how the project ended up unfolding, especially with my final conclusions for each gig, creating originals for this project felt unnecessary by the end. I chose to do this project for my fmp as I want to better myself as a drummer performance-wise and the best way to do that is get experience in playing many different styles of genres.  Polar Bear Gig: 21/05/26 Review and Analysis This is the third and final gig of my project and this was in front of a much younger crowd than the previous two. At the start of this project, I had the ambition to perform in 3 generations of crowd: young, adult and older and now I can say I have successfully achieved that. The whole point of this gig for me was to perform in front of a younger crowd and observe how they react to the music being played. However, another key aspect of this gig was that it was my first time organising a gig which helps me upskill my event management skills. So this gig went incredibly I think, whether that was because this was the most active crowd of the three that I have played in front of, or how my own skills have developed overtime for this big gig at the end of my project.  Beggars Folk Music Club Gig: 14/05/26 Review and Analysis This is the 2nd gig of my project and this was a smaller set aimed for a much older audience so everything was completely stripped down and acoustic for this gig. I was on the cajon while my friend Mia sung. We made the creative decision to strip down the set to cajon and vocals purely which strongly matched the folky vibe. Other artists had guitars and played protest, country or folk while others also went completely acapella. Going acapella was a really good way to encourage the crowd to join in which worked really well for us. Unfortunately, our bigger set was completely stripped down to 3 songs which still gave me enough to work with for my project and it was enough to get some great crowd engagement and observe how they saw the music.  Rehearsal Diaries: Beggars Folk Music Club Rehearsal Diary: 29/04/26 The intention of this gig was to be at a retirement home, but a different idea was brought to me: a local folk music club with another friend who had been asked to play there, to which I was welcomed to join in for a set there. The plan is to perform this very short set on 14th May. With the set being much shorter than the other sets I will be playing, these diaries will end up being shorter and less. So today me and my friend Mia filtered through a few acoustic, folk songs that she already knew and had in her pocket to make rehearsal time much more sweet for both of our busy schedules, we played through a select few songs and created a small, 5 song set which will give us a decent 15 minute set to perform at this club.  The Alexandra Hotel Gig: 25/04/26 Review and Analysis A key reason on why we played this gig was to focus on audience at a pub and how they react to music being presented in front of them, where the majority are adults in their 30s-50s, though there were some members of the audience a lot younger which I will be taking into account when discussing audience reaction as they reacted differently to the adults in the crowd, there was also a motive of spreading the band's wings and testing out songs with this being our first proper gig. This in general is just effective for creating future sets and finding what works and doesn't work. Rehearsal Diaries: Polar Bear Rehearsal Diary: 22/04/26 This gig is gonna be a little bit more interesting than the previous two in terms of rehearsals and documentation as I am in two bands for this particular gig so genre and research wise, I will use My Suede Shoes as the main priority focus regarding research as they match the genre that you may see at a venue like the Polar Bear than Slate, though I will still use this post to document Slate's progress.  Today, I spent upskilling hour in C7 with My Suede Shoes who are covering midwest emo for this gig and spent time going through Romance Is Boring by Los Campensinos. There wasn't much to go through with this rehearsal as we were missing Sam who is our lead guitarist, and it was a last minute addition so it was our first time properly looking at the song.
